Introduction

Hypertension is a common disorder in primary care and is associated with co-morbidities such as cerebrovascular and cardiovascular disease. Much data has appeared over the last decade revealing the importance of treating hypertension and the benefits in both mortality and morbidity. We recognise that the management of hypertension is primarily focused in primary care and the nurse practitioner is fundamental in delivering this service. These self assessment cases provide a good overview of the typical cases that you will encounter in clinical practice. Prepare yourself for the challenge of the questions with the reading list and then complete the 10 questions, reflect on these and obtain your certificate.
