My name is Ahsan Mughal and aside from being a passionate cricketer, I work as a Consultant Respiratory and General Internal Medicine (GIM) Physician at Morriston Hospital, Swansea Bay University Health Board. My role involves out-patient respiratory, general respiratory clinics, respiratory hot clinics, bronchial sepsis and tuberculosis (TB) clinics and in-patient respiratory and GIM patient management.

Currently, I’m the Lead Clinician for many institutions, including Antibiotic Stewardship at the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board, Bronchiectasis and Bronchial Sepsis in Swansea and Tuberculosis in Swansea and the Neath Port Talbot region.

I’ve successfully completed several qualifications and examinations including my MRCP(UK), SCE in Respiratory Medicine and PgCert in Medical Education from Cardiff University.

I am a Respiratory Consultant with an interest in medical education, sleep medicine and interstitial lung diseases interventional pulmonology. I’m also passionate about teaching and currently mentor candidates looking to sit the HERMES Adult Respiratory Medicine exam.

I completed my thesis on obstructive sleep apnoea during my MD and have several publications in relation to sleep apnoea, diffuse lung diseases, tuberculosis and pleural diseases.

Additionally, I’m a member of various professional bodies including the Royal College of Physicians, European Respiratory Society, American College of Chest Physicians and the Indian Chest Society among many others.

I am a Consultant Pulmonologist and Intensivist with a particular interest in patient care, including Critical Care, COVID-19, Interventional Pulmonology and Allergology. In 2018 completed my MD at JIPMER, Puducherry, India. Following this, I completed my MBBS in 2021 at Government Medical College, Trivandrum, India. I also hold a European Diploma in Respiratory Medicine and completed the MRCP SCE in Respiratory Medicine in 2021. Furthermore, I am continuously engaged in ongoing research and have contributed to over ten publications. I am also a member of the European Respiratory Society, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society and the Indian Chest Society.

I am a Research Fellow at Queen Mary University of London and have worked at many teaching hospitals, including the Royal Brompton, where I trained as a Clinical Respiratory Physiologist.

My PhD research at Imperial College London was conducted in aerosolised drug delivery and lung physiology in health and disease. I have 18 years' experience of working with a variety of patients and research subjects of all ages (NHS and private sector).

I enjoy knowledge and skill development through CPD and teaching other working professionals aiming to improve their career prospects by studying via the StudyPRN platform.

I am a Respiratory and General Medicine Consultant at UCLH, with additional sessions at the Royal Free Hospital.

I studied Medicine at Imperial College School of Medicine and completed my respiratory training as a North West trainee with posts at the Royal Brompton, Imperial Healthcare and the Royal Free before completing my clinical fellowship at UCL. I am a Specialist Registrar in Respiratory Medicine based in Cardiff, Wales. My clinical practice covers all areas of respiratory medicine, with a particular sub-specialty interest in pulmonary vascular disease.

I spent two years undertaking a research fellowship investigating immunological and metabolic abnormalities associated with pulmonary vascular disease at the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, a world-renowned centre of excellence for respiratory medicine. The research I undertook during this fellowship contributed towards my MD thesis.

I am a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and have presented my scientific work and clinical cases at both national and international conferences, including the Welsh Thoracic Society, British Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society Congress and American Thoracic Society Congress.

I am a consultant in respiratory medicine working in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. I’m the clinical lead for the Severe Asthma Service and chair the All Wales Difficult Asthma MDT. In addition, I lead the asthma work-stream of the Welsh Respiratory Health Implementation Group.

Another area of particular interest is the management of pulmonary embolism. I am an honorary lecturer for Cardiff University and an undergraduate lead for respiratory medicine.

I completed my undergraduate medical education (MBBS) and intercalated BSc at Guy’s King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School. I went on to complete the bulk of my medical training and attain Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in London and following this specialised in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine.

I also spent time carrying out research in lung cancer screening, for which I was awarded a PhD and subsequently, an Academic Clinical Lectureship at University College London. I have published several papers, including those in high impact journals.

Following the completion of my training in 2020, I worked for a short time as a Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at University College Hospital London. During my current period of maternity break, I have relocated to Singapore where I am due to be starting work as a Respiratory Physician in May 2021.

I am an NHS Consultant working in respiratory medicine and have written an iBook on Respiratory SCE. I run a short preparatory course every year for trainees who are taking the SCE exam.

I have been involved with StudyPRN initially as a question writer and have thoroughly enjoyed making my contributions to the question bank for the SCE revision resource.

I completed my postgraduate medical and respiratory training in 2019, having trained within the Wales Deanery. During my training, I undertook a period of research and obtained an MD in the Studies of cough in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2017.

I work as a consultant in Acute and Respiratory Medicine in Cardiff and Vale University Health board. My subspecialty interest is in Interstitial Lung Disease.

I completed my MBBS from King Edward Medical University, Lahore. Pursuing my passion for pulmonology, I joined as an MD trainee in the Department of TB and Chest Diseases at Mayo Hospital Lahore, where I completed my 5 years of training in respiratory medicine. During this period, I also completed my MRCP Diploma.

Following my training, I served as an MDR TB Physician, implementing national guidelines and providing quality care to patients with MDR TB.

I have completed research on the role of statins in COPD and on the role of NIV in COVID-19 patients. Additionally, I have participated in the new short-term regimen trial for MDR TB patients.

I am due to join the Newcastle upon Tyne NHS Trust and begin my career in the UK. I am keen on studying guidelines and getting to know the latest advances in the field for better education and patient care.

I am a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Royal Glamorgan Hospital in South Wales. I studied at Cardiff University, gaining my MBCh in 2007 and MRCP in 2010.

My primary clinical interests are in lung cancer and asthma. I have also been involved in scoping Lung Health Checks for the Wales Cancer Network.
