With distinct presentations—DKA typically in Type 1 and HHS in Type 2 diabetes—both demand rapid intervention to manage fluid loss, electrolyte imbalance, and severe hyperglycaemia. My name is Khalid Yusuf Elzohry and I am a Consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes at Sohag Teaching Hospital, Sohag, Egypt.
I hold the Specialty Certificate in Endocrinology and Diabetes (2018) and the European Board Examination in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (2019). I also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Endocrinology from the University of South Wales in 2020, where I’ve been a tutor on the online postgraduate programme since 2021. I currently serve as General Secretary of the Egyptian Thyroid Association.
