Cosmeceuticals are a class of products used to improve the appearance of the skin and are therefore considered anti-ageing. They are not considered to be pharmaceutical agents requiring a prescription, so are not regulated by bodies such as the MHRA or EMA. However, cosmeceuticals do incorporate active ingredients which can be effective in treating a variety of skin conditions, such as acne, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.
Cosmeceuticals are a rapidly growing segment of the skincare industry, combining the benefits of both cosmetics and pharmaceuticals to provide advanced skincare solutions. With an increasing demand for products that address specific skin concerns, the use of cosmeceuticals has become increasingly popular in recent years. As a result, it is important for skin care professionals to have a strong understanding of cosmeceuticals and their benefits to better serve their clients.
This CPD module will provide an overview of cosmeceuticals. The module will discuss the different types of cosmeceuticals, how they work, and their effectiveness. The module will also discuss the safety of cosmeceuticals and the potential side effects.
The module is based on 10 clinical case scenarios with associated MCQs and each explanation provides further reading material to refresh your knowledge of each diagnosis. Once you complete the module — and achieve the minimum pass rate of 60% — you'll be awarded a downloadable 1 hour CPD Certificate, which you can print or upload to your annual CPD Portfolio.
